Types of Children’s Beds

The bed is the king of the bedroom, but it’s not always easy to choose it. Canopy bed, fold-away bed, pull-out bed, bed with or without backrest, oversize bed… We guide you to find the right bed model for comfortable nights!

If you had to have only one piece of furniture, it would be this one: the bed! If its design is important, its comfort is even more important. The bed should not only look good in the room – where it takes up a lot of space – but it should also have a good box spring and a mattress that suits your needs, more or less firm. Bedding is not to be trifled with!

To choose your bed properly, you should therefore consider its comfort, habits and needs, while taking into account the configuration of the bedroom. Thus, you will opt rather for a single bed, a double bed, a bed of dimensions 160 x 200 (for the big ones and those who like to spread out…).

The clever bed option: the space-saving bed

There are beds for all types of rooms. Smaller spaces – or studio dwellers for example – can choose a smart bed. You can choose a fold-away bed or a trundle bed. The former is equipped with a mechanical system that allows the bed to be raised to the ceiling (or retracted into a cupboard), so that when the bed is “tidied up”, you can easily enjoy your desk or dining area.

Also practical for small spaces, the pull-out bed, which allows you to easily move from a single bed to a double bed. You can also opt for the mezzanine bed solution, which is practical for installing a reading corner, a bookcase or storage space under the bed placed high up – but fixed. The stylish and practical bed for large rooms

There are also other types of bed, some of which are more bulky, such as the round bed or the canopy bed, which certainly gives the room a romantic atmosphere. However, this type of bed is reserved for large rooms due to its imposing dimensions.

Medium-sized – or even small – rooms will be able to choose space-saving bed models, such as the bed with storage, which for example has drawers under the bed base or integrates bookcases in the headboard.

The budget bed

There are beds for every budget, from the simple bed with a box spring and mattress to the ultra-sophisticated four-poster bed or retractable bed with a designer structure. It’s up to you to choose from all the beds offered by the furniture brands. To guide you, we have put together in this special folder all our advice and shopping for beds.

Your child’s room should be their nest. It contributes to quality sleep. Find the optimal room temperature (their bedroom should be relatively cool), good bedding (comfort!) and ideal light exposure (a very dark environment is recommended).

Beware of nightlights that emit blue light that reaches directly to the eyelids because they interfere with sleep. Putting a few drops of the “good smell” they like on a sheet or a comforter could also help them fall asleep.
